Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fellow sensational ones.
I haven’t really posted much at all since the start of this thingymabobber so I intend to make up for it in this lengthy post. Hopefully I don’t bore you all to death. Basically a little life update to tell you where ive been and what ive been doing.
I kind of stopped posting on the forum and reading a lot less during my exam period in May onwards. Pokering all year round meant my attendance was poor and in turn my work was far behind. So I decided to put a few weeks effort in to make sure I got through the year at uni by passing my exams. This didn’t quite happen. I failed one module (Java programming…pile of shite) by a few marks and was due to resit at the end of August. Exams finished I played a few more live games before heading off home for the summer! Chris Waugh was leaving also around the same time as far as I can remember so it was sad times. Anyway along with some family illness and being away from all live poker it kind of got cast aside for the summer. I put a few dollars into an online account and played occasionally. On my 5th day home I played my 5th game of indoor football. Five games in five days was me making up for the lack of playing whilst in Newcastle. Anyways towards the end of the game I twisted to chase a player and went over on my ankle…breaking it and putting me in cast and crutches for the next 6 weeks. I decided immediately after falling over on it that it wasn’t broke so walked home about 1 mile. Got my dinner and went to bed that night. The next day I was in a lot of pain and my foot was huge. So I entered a $6 MTT on titan to take my mind off it. 5 hours later I find myself on the final table as one of the shortest stacks. A few players drop and we are down to 6. Folded round to me on the SB and my FT inexperience shows when I limp to the short stacked BB. He checks and we see a 997 flop. I’m holding 6,7 and put in a bet. He shoves and I call. He has 9,2. Goodnight for me and I take home $350 for my stupidity. Off to the hospital to face the real issue…my throbbing foot. I receive the news, two crutches and a huge cast up to my knee. Wicked.
6 weeks of sympathy seemed nice at first along with the thrill of a first broken bone..Little did I know it was sooooooo shit not being able to go out to clubs or even down the shops for a walk. I had to sit down in the shower with a plastic bin bag over my leg and a towel over that. That aside it was good to be home. My sister just gave birth at Easter so there was the first baby of the family around. I got asked to be the Godfather for my niece and gladly accepted. July approached and I had to head back to Newcastle to clear out my room in my student digs. A couple of days before my flight I had a hospital appointment. Cast off and still on crutches…progress. I ditched the crutches and let easy jet whisk me off to the toon. After a couple of nights out with Nick my mate from home who now lives in Newc too. Out with Walka, nath, spoona, rozzi, nick and I. Quality night all in all. Very eventful night indeed, with an appearance from Mr Chan in there too. Cant ask for much more.
Room cleared and back home for the remainder of July and all of August. Next on the agenda was my 21st. A lot of planning and a few weeks of sleeping and eating subways it arrived. Arranged in a local social club where we had rented a massive pub equip with a dance floor and a dj. Many dance offs later I found myself around the back of the reputable establishment with a lady. A few moments later and fast progress we had been discovered…by the owner. FML. He told us to get around the front. My reply “Cheers for ruining my birthday ballbag.” A lot more drinks were consumed and the night was a success.
About two weeks later after many DVDs and Chinese’s with my pals we decided to go out to my friend’s farm and drink there. We had done this earlier in the summer a couple of times. Both great nights as she has quads and motor scooters along with: Mini Cooper S, Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Landrover Jeep and a couple of new BMW’s oh and a fiat punto to take the dogs to the beach..! Anyways we arrived and decided to go out on her quad. I decided to show my friend Moff the ropes by taking him on a tour through the 20ish fields she has with a track…a lot of land to cover with a few jumps. Anyway we returned to the yard to the rest but the brakes failed and we went straight into the barn wall. Moff on the back came over the top of me and hit the wall face on. I got squashed up with the quad which landed on top of me in the end. After checking Moff was alive I concentrated on my injuries. And there were a few too many for my liking. A £4k quad had been wrote off and we both had broken bones. I again waited a day and a bit to go to the hospital. Proving to myself I am one of those people who says “I’ll see how it is in the morning.” My scaphoid was broken and the bad news was im in a cast again and for up to 12 weeks as there is no circulation to the bone. Awesome…after my broken ankle I just couldn’t be fecked with another broken bone. It was my left wrist…until it happens too you..you wont realise the difficulty I had in trying to wash my right arm pit. I finally mastered a technique and clean I was.
Further complications were to follow…
I was due to fly 3 days after I got the cast on my arm. However little did I know…Easyjet are a bunch of cunts. About 50 arguments later and a lot of winding of of their manager I finally gave up. I wasn’t allowed to fly to Newcastle. But the reason I was flying was to do the repeat exam. I informed uni and after filling out a lot of forms and getting doctors notes and proof of my injuries and that easyjet wouldn’t let me fly they allowed me into second year. I wasn’t finished with easyjet though. I contacted the head office and talked to a manager and informed him of the things their manager said to me and his approach to the situation. One comment from him was “If he wants a refund tell him to go ask his doctor”…funny guy. I gave his name and after a review by easyjet I was given a refund and the manager was dealt with. I win.
So that led me to the end of summer. Two broken bones. One good Birthday. Missing an exam and progressing to 2nd year of uni. Niiice
As you can see from the above I have been a busy boy but not in a good way. I’ve had a rather unlucky summer and it continued. Upon arriving to Newcastle again and planning my finances my money was sure to run low before Christmas. I had to rush back a week after moving into my new house because of another family illness. I spent a week at home to see my Grandmother. I returned to Newcastle with basically no money after the last minute expensive flights and haven’t been able to get to the tables very much. I still read the forums a lot but with university taking the front seat this year don’t find a lot of time to post. I’m playing the team game with you lot next week and I actually cannot wait. Let’s take it down boys..!
Missing you’s
Andy
